I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Great sales discount for employees

Cons

Asked to work harder, take on more responsibility with no mention of more money. Company does NOT care about employee morale. They want more work with less people. Employees are asked to continue to buy into company's ever changing vision.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value the JCPenney experience that your employees have gained over the years of working hard for you rather than expect them to train the outside talent that you bring in for the positions they should have.

I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Great people, more like family

    Cons

Corporate needs to make up their minds on where the company is headed, need better communication to stores, little to none advancement from hourly to salaried level

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication is key. Better understanding of what is going on at store level before making decisions that effect them. Instead of hiring upper level management straight out of college with no real in store retail experience, look at the people who have been working hard for Jcp for years that have the experience.

I have been working at J. C. Penney part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Can't think of a single one

    Cons

Lack of knowledge of the management they hire. The management teams do not know how to do the jobs within the company so they make demands that are unreasonable on the associates. Too many woman and so too much tackiness and backstabbing going on within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you hire managers that have experience in retail positions and know the job. Hiring just anyone that has management experience is NOT helping your company. They do not know what it takes to work in retail stores and they are unfortunately causing this company to go down the tubes. Employees are trying hard to make it work and do what is necessary but when you have managers that don't have a clue about how long or much time it takes to complete tasks you have store that is not making it and the wrong people are being blamed!!
