I have been working at J. M. Waller Associates

    Pros

You work on site so Waller doesn't stand over you, have some independence, and coworkers are highly skilled and well educated. The on-site employers are great to work for too bad you don't work for them instead.

    Cons

Waller pays you about 35% less that equivalent workers in government or other contractors make for exact same job. Waller's retirement plan is rigged to benefit only those that work at the corporate office. Waller offers a 3% match and the match is 100% vested after 6 years. However government contracts are only for 5 years so it's impossible for you to become 100% vested. If the contract is not renewed for the next year you lose the match. Morale is VERY low among Waller employees. Waller offered NO training for the job. You learn everything on your own. It's depressing to work with government workers and other contractors who make substantially more (35% more) that you do for the exact same job. The government pays Waller what they pay government workers but Waller pays you nothing and pockets the rest. Consequently a lot of good workers leave for other jobs and literally 100% of the remaining employees are looking for other jobs. If you talk to other contractors they'll tell you Waller has a reputation for not treating employees well and that you get what you pay for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It almost seems if Waller wants to lose contracts. You have skilled, educated, experienced employees who do a great job and make the company look good. Yet you pay them substantially less that their co-workers who work for the government or other contractors which kills morale. Employees are looking to take other jobs and the on-site management is highly upset with Waller because this is the reason you're losing employees and therefore the reason on-site employers are looking to change contractors. Very poor management practices.
