Former Employee - Analyst in London, England (UK)

Pros

Early direct responsibilities, one of the biggest players in practically every market, good opportunities for training and development, decent pay, low stock to cash ratios

Cons

Hugely political and bureaucratic, you really are part of the corporate machine. "Meritocratic" pay is subject to whatever is going on in the rest of the bank and the industry, clearly true of any bank but with one as big as this your own contributions matter less in the big picture.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication down the chain of command, make the effort to show that decisions are based on actual objective judgement and not for political reasons

    Pros

Managers are extremely supportive of internal mobility. If you get tired of your job you can easily get another one within the firm. Management emphasizes ethics and doing the right thing for clients.

    Cons

There's a lot of policy and procedures that drag down projects. We need more cross pollination of experience and creativity.
