I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Pay is quite good if you have the right skills (management or technical).
     - This depends on your position and team, but I work from home frequently and am free to flex my hours to avoid peak traffic
    - Plenty of vacation/sick time
    - This isn't retail, you get Bank holidays and can take off for the major holidays
    - Medical benefits are solid. Not the best, but certainly not the worst.
    - Business is looking good. This company is profitable and makes money every quarter. Revene growth is strong.

    Cons

    - For me, the decade+ old technology is a real pain. We only very recently moved off of IE6. We are still using Windows XP. I'm lucky enough to have a newer laptop, but most employees have laptops or desktops that are years old and bogged down with so much Enterprise crapware they practically start smoking after boot (and can take about 10 mins to finish boot scripts). The VPN performance when working remotely is horrible (the worst I've used).
    - Working in a cubicle farm. JPM is fully sold on the mantra of kicking everyone out of offices. Great, try writing code or having a conversation with a direct report while everyone around you is talking up a storm. Oh, you are an operations manager or vice-president? Here is your cubicle. Let the awesome team-building begin! Unless you are a senior director and above, welcome to your tiny cubicle! I despise everything about cubicles. I have worked in large corporate operations with much a much better environment for accomplishing work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My experience has been mainly positive (back-office areas). Keep your eyes open for the top performers and take care of them. They will stay with the company and take care of you.

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits. Overall a good company.

    Cons

Too big for its own good. Mind-numbing bureaucracy. Service internally is as bad as the external clients get.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Simplify, simplify, simplify. Too much bureaucracy.
