It's got it's pluses and minuses

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time

Pros

Some good people, lots of resources (if you're on the right team) and you may get lucky and end up in a really great spot in the company. If you hit a sweet spot it can be a really great place to work.

Cons

You may also end up with a joke of a manager who just got where they are because they "play the game" or latched onto another joke of a manager that has climbed their way up by doing nothing but trying to please their managers. Don't expect raises or bonuses... They don't really care about you AT ALL... but they'll pretend they do :)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be blind to managers whose idea of managing is to have their employees do their work for them. The people that make money around here are the ones who just have employees scramble to make them look good while they don't get compensated nearly enough for the amount of work... Kind of a waste of time and resources.

    Pros

Large company, many locations (although Operations is centralized). Good utilization of technology in most operational departments. Financially strong company with little chance of being bought out.

    Cons

Pay can be low, even when compared with other financial institutions. Upper management can be more concerned about their personal success than that of their departments (which is true just about everywhere).

Career growth can be challenging if you come in on the Retail side of the bank.
