I have been working at J.P. Morgan as a contractor

Pros

-fantastic training opportunities for those proactively seeking self-improvement and advancement of career skills
-I was lucky enough to get phenomenal managers who reach out to help and seem to really care about individuals on the team

Cons

- it can feel like an assembly line, with some jobs very disconnected from the big picture of the company, especially for the analysts

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Culture, training, and deal experience are all great aspects of working for J.P. Morgan. Bonus compensation is variable but topped the street for associates this year.

    Cons

Work-life balance is the first sacrifice of working for any bulge bracket institution but group placement plays a huge role in total hours worked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior level bankers simultaneously wonder why there is so much junior level turnover and continually push projects to the last minute at the cost of the analysts and associates. As the banking industry changes so too must the work patterns of the hierarchy.
