This organziation so completely buys into its mission and works in every possible way to deliver on the promise.

Cons

Economic swings do not always favor something considered less of a tangible than food and shelter when it comes to donor choices.

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in New York, NY

    Pros

Small enough for you to know everyone and everyone to know you. You have a good chance to meet all senior-level staff, and everyone is generally open and friendly. The research department is a desirable place to work for anyone passionate about finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, or even just passionate about charitable work in general.

    Cons

Not much potential for advancement unless you are patient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None to think of.

    Pros

The mission. The families. The cause.

    Cons

Everything else. Its a mess of an organization that doesn't have strong enough leadership or an innovative vision for the future. They are still working like they did 40 years ago and there is no sign that anyone on the leadership team is going to change this. The board is delusional to think that the CEO is going to help and the employees are taking advantage of their ignorance.

Middle management is often abused and the staff do whatever they want with no accountability.

Its a culture of turmoil and you'd be cautioned to stay clear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good Luck to you! You have a handful of superstars that are being over shadowed but the rest and if you haven't lost them all by the time you read this- you will. Hire a consultant- get the broom and sweep out the garbage that is occupying desk space.
