I have been working at JEVS full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Very supportive environment with room to grow. Company has many departments from prison programs to schools as well as supports for disabled and unemployed population. As large as it is it's still a family like agency with many trainings and celebrations where the programs come together.

Cons

Government Funding in current economic conditions is unstable so programs can be lost at any time resulting in layoffs.

    Pros

Large enough to move to a different department; informal culture; middle management open to new ideas and concepts; dedicated staff

    Cons

upper management is generally arrogant and unwilling to hear recommendations by non-upper management staff; too many levels of management; resistant to change; too many tenured management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

reduce levels of management by hiring quality staff at all levels; work with tenured staff to get over their resistance to change
