To get experience right out of school. To learn how to navigate in a HUGE corporation--or--the military. As a stepping stone. Don't think these people are your friends--they're not.

Cons

It's like working for the government. It's huge, bloated, slow and wasteful. They absorb other companies like a sponge. At least they have THAT down to a science. Politics are INCREDIBLE there--never saw anything like it in over 15 yrs of working on Wall St. Too many complicated, useless systems in IT. Too much process--not enough content. That's what you get when you have 200,000 co-workers.

Advice to Senior Management

Pay attention to how people are treated. Try to notice when people aren't happy. Do something about it. That's why you're paid the big bucks.
