I worked at Jacobs full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

The customer is great. Great scientific place to work. NASA.

Cons

Jacobs co-employees a large percentage of the people (35%) through small business in an attempt to meet government contract obligations they have for working with small business. They are dictatorial in their management style and difficult to deal with. Jacobs establishes the benefits for everyone, even the small business people.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the small business companies have the power to manage the small business employees.

I have been working at Jacobs full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent salary; great experience an a wide variety of projects; always opportunities for learning new things; strong emphasis on safety.

    Cons

Most significantly is a lack of job security. It is a company in a very cyclical industry, so a loss of a project could mean that you are on "company convenience leave" at home without pay.

I have been working at Jacobs full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Let people work on their own (trust) with minimal oversight.

    Cons

Moving up requires entry into 'the club'. You have to be mobile and not a complainer.
Risk of layoff if projects are slow coming in the door.
Willingness to relocate is a requirement as one advances in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more effort showing employees that they are important to the organization.
Tell work force what's going on, be more present and more accessible.

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
