I have been working at Jacobs

    Pros

Pay is good. People are good to deal with. Flexible with time off.

    Cons

Not enough contact with Corporate. Pension plan could be better. More holidays and sick days would be nice. There are certain people in positions that I question if there should even be there. An annual conference would be nice. There is not nearly enough interaction with people outside of the satellite site.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more available training courses. More contact with employees not working at Corporate.

    I worked at Jacobs

    Pros

Opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects
A lot of very knowledgeable, helpful employees
Company is well respected in the industry
Jacobs Engineering name looks good on a resume
My office had a work schedule of 9 hours Monday-Thursday and 4 hours on Friday. It sure was nice leaving for the day at 11:30 on Fridays!

    Cons

Constant fear of getting laid off. The business tends to be volatile, the work load fluctuates, and clients have a tendency to cancel projects mid-stream with little or no notice. When work is lacking, people get laid off. This is the only significant downside I see, but it is a major one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please drop the "Employees are our greatest assest" line. The employees generally do not believe it when so many of the greatest assets are let go during the slow times. Or change it to read, "Billable employees are our greatest assets." I understand that difficult choices must be made during the tough times. I just wish the company would "keep it real" and acknowledge its track record as a "hire and fire" employer.
