Pros

They have a professional staff, usually don't hire people without experience.

Cons

Low pay. Lots of corporate hoops to jump through. Upper management can be overbearing, vindictive.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people what they are worth. Cut back on over-management.

    I worked at Jacobson Companies full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    The company has all the pieces to be successful, they have locations (foot print), they have industry knowledge and capabilities in 2 of their divisions (CLS and TLS) and if run correctly by senior management could be a leader in the industry.

    Cons

    Alot - Senior management/Executive Staff - None of them have built an organization or have an idea how to build a product. They have one good "C" level executive and lot of "maintainers" that are only focused on taking the company public and getting a paycheck. it is clear that promotion by incompetence has occurred at the senior Level. CEO - Brian Lutt only listens to his generals and with that fails to move forward. The company has lost more good people in top positions over the past year than it currently has employed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Quit or Fire the majority of the top executives, try and get the stars back that left or were "eliminated" and build a product that is focused on customer expectations. Bring your sales team back and give them something to sell and the tools to be successful. Their failure was yours not theirs.

    Pros

    The company is an excellent size with a couple good leaders. The Contract Logistics division is truly customer focused and really is the only division that has made money.

    Cons

    Management - They do no want to change their organization or improve on how they do business. Executives just push for sales with no way to support the business once it is brought on board. Employees are treated extremely poorly and have no decision making authority to drive growth and success.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Quit - With the exception of a couple, executives should leave and allow a seasoned management team come in and overhaul the organization.
