Working at JMU was a good experience for me. Although it was only for a short amount of time, I learned a lot.

    I worked at James Madison University part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Fun people to work with and incredibly flexible hours. They do the best they feasibly can to train you.

    Cons

    Minimum wage and high stress environment. Especially for basketball. There are just too many games to ensure high quality referees. I don't know of anyone being turned away or fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Higher pay for better officials would help retain talent.

    * strong students coming into JMU College of Business
    * outstanding community

    Cons

    * difficult administration to develop instrinsic motivation to go above and beyond to achieve life long success.
    * it was more important to tow the company line than it was to achieve exceptional results in or out of the classroom.
    * adherance to unstated policies was expected
