Pros

Shareholder Services department has a break structure which encourages employees to take breaks twice per day.

Cons

The pay is pretty small.

    I worked at Janus Capital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Good benefits package
    - Nice location
    - Decent training and development department

    Cons

    - Overpaid Managers and Directors and incompetency throughout the organization
     - Ineffective HR department
    - Nepotism and Favoritism is extensive
    - Lack of accountability at ALL levels
    - Your opinions are only valued if they are in agreement with your department head
    - You are rewarded and promoted based your networking (sucking up) skills, not your talent and ability to actually get things done.
    - Lack of any type of manager assistance or encouragement towards career development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    This used to be a great company to work for. There needs to be a housecleaning of Managers, Directors and VPs. There are too many people in current positions because they happened to be at the right place at the right time and were not thoroughly vetted for ability and skill sets. The departure of many talented people has left a plethora of unqualified and unprofessional people in positions of power and authority. Bring back the culture where people were actually proud to be part of the organization. Walk the talk and actually do something about breaking down the silos. Watching the constant power struggles is draining and tiresome. Try to simulate what little morale may still exist. Stop handing out promotions to incompetent people simply because they like to play "The Game" and actually acknowledge people with professionalism and skills. Too many good people have left and they will continue to do so unless the culture returns to one of mutual respect.
