Pros

Pay okay and you get insurance benefits

Cons

They have taken away a lot lately from school reimbursement to just standard items in the work place. They proclaim change and how they need to change to make the environment better but when it comes time to change you run into a brick wall. Also team building is virtually non existent. You have a slight few of hard workers and then people that generally skirt around doing their work and they get away with it. Really kills any desire for anyone to excel as you get paid the same whether you work hard or are slacking.

Advice to Management

They need to fire the slackers. It takes over a year to fire someone it seems and that is too long. If you truly want change to happen cut the dead weight. You have programmers that only know how to do old coding. You have people that are stagnant and feed off of others and you fail to reward those that come into the company trying to make a difference thus adding to the lack of motivation. I have seen people get away with not doing their jobs for over a year and nothing has happened. In previous jobs I worked, we were fired for doing less. CUT THE DEAD WEIGHT and get in fresh blood. CHANGE if you truly mean it, enough red tape.

    Pros

Great company, good benefits, wonderful people to work with.

    Cons

You have to leave the company to be paid within your correct salary range. Even when promoted within the company the salary is not adjusted to company standard salary ranges. New hires are often paid higher and adjustments to salary is rarely considered. Difficult to keep good people on IT teams.

    Advice to Management

Consider the reasons most individuals leave the company and then return within a year or two. In almost every case it is due to compensation.

  2. Good company that is still struggling with the shift from being a printing company to a software/data company.

    Pros

    Good work/life balance
Full of good, bright people who strive to make a difference.
Fun and interesting to be part of company that impacts the world of aviation/life as much as Jeppesen does.
Continued influence of parent company, Boeing, shows promise as the company's tries to evolve in a rapidly changing market place.

    Cons

Senior management doesn't really understand technology development. They don't seem to have an understanding of large, complex technology projects. Consequently they can't provide a lot of clear direction/vision and then get skittish when projects don't proceed as planned.

Company's compensation structure relies too heavily on people wanting to work in aviation and historically might be willing to exchange some financial compensation to do that. Their comp structure is not mature when it comes to the various disciplines that play a part in successful software development.

HR has repeatedly shown that they view humans as resources and not as people. Slow to react when hiring is urgent. They lack knowledge of new disciplines that haven't traditionally been part of an aviation company.

    Advice to Management

    Coordinate your product offerings!
    * The number of redundant software projects with significant overlap is not indicative of a mature company.
    * Your customers expect more integration when buying web-based products or apps. Current offerings are too isolated and lack the unified experience people expect when paying a premium to an industry leader.
