I have been working at JoS. A. Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A decent amount of recent college graduates are employed. Since corporate is located so far away from the city, there is very minimal traffic.

    Cons

No guidance from Senior Management. Impromptu meetings are frequently called, lasting anywhere from 3 to 7 hours. Marketing/design/merchandising changes are constantly happening at the 13th hour, allowing for mistakes and an inefficient use of company money and employee time. Raises and bonuses are a rarity. Women are not treated as equals - whether through promotions or the employee discount which at times cannot be used on family members. HR doesn't seem to care about the high turnover rate or low morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Own your mistakes. Senior Management makes the Marketing decisions, yet when the sales don't work, it's the merchant's fault.

Low pay and a lot of aggrevation due to poor communication and lack of training

I worked at JoS. A. Bank full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Joking around with employees about the way we were treated by the company and some of the customers was the only thing enjoyable about working here.

    Cons

Almost no commissions received because they are very difficult to attain except during the holiday season. You have to sell a lot of merchandise before you get any commission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your employees and give them 3% commission on sales. Employees have plenty of work to do for their $8-$9 an hour. Where is the incentive to sell when you make no commission at all more than half the time?
