I have been working at John Deere

Pros

Good pay, flexible hours in some groups, great company name recognition

Cons

Very formal company, not forward-thinking. Very stuck in their ways sometimes and afraid of change. Need to do more unique things for their employees to make jobs more enjoyable and give incentive to stay. Compensation is great because they don't do a lot outside of pay.

No opinion of CEO

    I worked at John Deere

    Pros

Excellent benefit are offered. Salaries are okay according to the location. Co-workers are friendly and courteous. Training opportunities are good.

    Cons

Middle management does not adhere to upper management's suggestions, but twists the interpretation to meet their goals. Challenges are admonished and punished harshly within the limits of the law and policies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to retain the best talent, please try to improve the middle management (9s, 10s, 11s). The CEOs objectives for improving manager-employee relationship is not working well. You have correctly stated that people join companies, but leave a manager. Regretfully, I did the same.

I have been working at John Deere

    Pros

John Deere is a very stable company with ties in the agriculture market that is the money maker and backbone of the business. Have a strong upper management with a good vision that is goal driven to the future in order to be successful and stay competitive.

    Cons

Conservative company (can be viewed as bad/good), new ideas and innovative ideas are sometimes difficult sell. Locations for work are not highly sought after places to live. Promotions can be limited and not all locations are aligned for employee and management structure with regards to pay and labor grades.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus on bringing in young leaders in the business and developing them into becoming future leaders. Hiring contract workers for important positions is short term thinking and need to bring in and offer full time employment to retain strong employees.
