I worked at John Deere part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Exposed to many new technologies, which one would not expect form a tractor manufacturer.

    Cons

There are limited chances for raise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at John Deere full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Interesting and challenging work. Friendly co-workers. Great teamwork.
Modest efforts have been made in recent years to correct some imbalances in resources and compensation. Moving in the right direction.

    Cons

No technical career path...except on paper.
There is a big difference in resources between different locations.
There is a big difference in responsibility versus compensation between locations and also across product lines.
HR seems to be so worried about getting sued that they will create a lawsuit for themselves. Good technical people are made into managers...making bad managers with no good technical help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that your employees know as much or more about what goes on than you do. We are insulted when told misleading answers or motivations.
