I worked at John Deere as an intern (less than a year)

Pros

-They try to make the experience a little less heavy for the employees with different programs (events, activities, courses, etc.)
-You get to learn a lot about the companies processes
-They care a lot about being constantly improving and they do listen to what employees say, even if it takes a while
-Nice working place, nice and cheap cafeteria.

Cons

-Takes a lot of time there to get a promotion or at least be a 'real' emplooyee (most of them enter as 'temporary' employees)
-Not a lot of chances to grow being in the tech area, unless you are sent to the Software Development department (which has been centralized in the US)
-Only 30 mins for lunch; no chance to eat outside. You have to bring your lunch or eat what's in the cafeteria. Plus, makes the experience a little heavier the fact of not having the oportunity to leave the facilities to take some fresh air.
-Working hours are a little too much; 10 daily hours (plus the time it takes to get there) + 4 to 6 hours every few saturdays

    Pros

Reputation, on site opportunities, work life balance

    Cons

Bad policies on hiring, Too much power to managers, Partiality in giving opportunities, Injustice in promotions and appraisals

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When hiring at GET level, don't go to premier colleges, you make them work for peanuts and ruin their initial few years. Stick with the policy you now have to recruit from local private colleges, this company deserves only such people.
