I have been working at Johns Hopkins Health System full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Very collaborative, innovative, and intellectually engaging research. Many resources, journal clubs, etc to keep the research community updated and engaged.

Cons

Very translationally based, making a slightly tougher for a basic science researcher (i.e., non-MD) to advance.
Hospital is in the heart of Baltimore, which is a little sketchy (i.e., require security guards on every corner).

I have been working at Johns Hopkins Health System

    Pros

JHHS is very involve in the community. There are so many division opportunity is available to learn new things.

    Cons

There is a lot of wasted work time. Parking is poor and dangerous. Employee benefits plans doesn't help employees the way it should. There are many people within the organization who are not skilled in their job skillset.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk candiately with employees about what the want and need to be sucessful in life. Work is necessary and should be comfortable in everyway possible. Example: The PTO and Tuiton Reimbursement Policies are NOT conducive to helping employees balance life and work. Compare the inner workings of other simular companies. Try to make JHHS the #1 place to work along with the #1 hospital in the country. Happy employees make a happy company.
