A really great summer experience.

Former Employee - Resident Assistant
Former Employee - Resident Assistant

I worked at Johns Hopkins University full-time (less than an year)

Pros

They look for very fun people to work at CTY, so your staff is made up of cool people that are easy to talk to and form strong friendships with.
Connect with really intelligent and excited kids.

Cons

You get very little "unwinding" time. Smoking is slightly frowned upon and don't even think about stashing alcohol for that night-cap after dealing with kids all day.
While the kids are cool, they can be infuriating! They'll push buttons and test limits every single day.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please find a way to give RA's a little more free time in the evenings. We're all pretty young ourselves, and I think it's unreasonable to expect that we won't want a chance to blow off steam after the long days we keep.
