Current Employee - Director in Milwaukee, WI
Current Employee - Director in Milwaukee, WI

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

- Strong corporate values
- Foundation of operational excellence
- Opportunities for advancement (if you know the right people and do well)
- Decent benefits
- Passionate, driven, dedicated colleagues
- Strong personal connections among employees

Cons

Work life balance is often a challenge. Paths for development and advancement are unclear. Diversity is sorely lacking in upper and middle management. Office politics can run unchecked, leading to lost productivity and employee dissatisfaction.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't sacrifice the future to near term priorities, nor rely solely on our operational excellence for long term results. Take care of, listen to, and respond to your people.

Former Employee - Account Executive in Madison, WI

I worked at Johnson Controls full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Has the typical big company benefits if that's what you're looking for

    Cons

    Many, many dissatisfied customers
    Bully culture
Oppressive reporting and internal selling required to get anything accomplished

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop giving lip service to ethics, integrity and customer satisfaction and actually implement them. Fire draconian, ruthless and bullying management that create an oppressed workforce that can't wait to leave and go work for the competition - and then turns around and out competes JCI.
