I worked at Johnson Controls full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Plenty of training and growth opportunities. The company seems genuinely committed to the well-being of its employees.

Cons

Can be harder than it should be to collaborate with other business units within the company. This often led to frustration with customers who "didn't know who to talk to"

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Break down barriers between business units to better serve customers. Try to eliminate the duplication of efforts between various sales channels to create a more efficient organization.

I had a bittersweet experience, it was wonderful as an employee and less wonderful as a contractor.

I worked at Johnson Controls as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

The company seems to genuinely care about its employees and the communities in which they work. If you are a FTE or intern there are a lot of opportunities for growth. Everyone shows up to work to make the company better and more profitable.

    Cons

There's less job security as a contractor. Some contractors or consultants have been there upwards to a few years, others a few months. You're better as a FTE.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent. Your employees are smart and can sense when changes are going to be made. Be clear and honest from the beginning.
