Pros

Good pay, good hours, good opportunity to learn the business side of design—creating formal presentations, talking with marketing, brand strategy, and so on—has put me in a better position to take on my own bigger clients or seek a promotion at a different company. And the GSDO hires good people, top to bottom, so you will have the opportunity to connect with very talented and kind individuals everyday.

Cons

Unfulfilling design work—lots of good ideas get lost along the way because often the lowest common denominator wins out. There are no benefits for contractors and little opportunity for full-time employment. The contract length is two years and it has to be through a clumsy 3rd party staffing service.

Advice to Management

Management did a good job, I think, within the parameters they had to work with…

    J&J is a good company.

Dont work for a "Business Leader/"supervisor that has no experience.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the peopel actually doing the work not the peopel who think they understand it.

    Pros

    - good brand management exposure - good resources within company and cross functional teams

    Cons

    - although they're trying to build collaboration across brands, they're not there yet - horizontal organization leads to group-think - poor IT systems (no digital asset storage strategy, little communication between brands and their websites) - poor knowledge transfer; brand teams seem to recreate the wheel - a lot of overlap in work across teams
