Johnson & Johnson Intern in Skillman, NJ:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Reputation -- the name opens doors. The company is highly entrepreneurial, so that people from all levels can have an impact if their ideas are good enough.

Cons

Highly silo'ed and political. If you have a bad manager, forget about it ... you're out of luck. And there are plenty of bad managers to go around. In the internship program in particular, non-manager staffers are given interns for the summer as a test to see if the staffers are management material. Obviously this doesn't always work out well for the interns.

Advice to Senior Management

Train on-the-ground managers better, and encourage more communication between departments.
