Pros

The staff and talent are great but this is not the place you want to work at if you are experienced talent. This would be a good place for someone who is just getting started.

Cons

Upper management is completely incompetant and out of touch. Staff took pay cuts a few years ago with the understanding that the cuts would only be temporary but the cuts became permanent. Still corporate can't understand why the staff is so dissatisfied.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop giving yourself big bonuses and reward the employees who have made this company successful over the years.

    Pros

Fun Job, Good People, Nice Building, New Technology, Good Location, Spend money on necessary upgrades, Covered Parking, lots of good lunch/dinner spots around

    Cons

Poor upper management, last place in most of the ratings categories, don't spend money on talent, lots of unhappy employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With the economy in the tank in las vegas there is little to suggest because i'm sure that revenue is way down so they aren't spending money.

    Horrible Place to Work

    Pros

If you are looking for an entry level sales position, this may be a good option for you. I would exhaust all of your other options before pursuing this job first! Many of the other people that hold sales positions in this company are great people to work with despite the negative atmosphere looming throughout this organization. You do get the opportunity of meeting a lot of local business owners, which can be very fun.

    Cons

Communication and Management at the Journal Broadcast Group in Springfield, MO are horrific. Sales management is very disconnected from the sales staff as well as other members of management, and provides no formal training to new employees. Because this job is commission based, it is very difficult to survive financially in this position. You may be given accounts to supplement your paycheck for the first few months, but these accounts will be taken away. Many of the packages that you are required to sell are a complete rip-off for your clients, which can make it very difficult to build rapport and good client relationships. Sales management is in dire need of additional management training and has no business trying to lead a team of sales professionals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acquire additional training, listen to employee feedback, address dissatisfied employees, work to develop more effective communication skills, stop trying to make a "quick buck" from clients to meet sales goals.
