Former Employee - Engineering Director in Sunnyvale, CA
Former Employee - Engineering Director in Sunnyvale, CA

I worked at Juniper Networks full-time (more than an year)

Pros

A lot of promise for company growth. A concerted effort was being made to position the R&D organization to scale to $5B, including hiring a senior director who specializes in this area and providing him with a full time staff.

Cons

There seemed to be a struggle between the CTO, the founder, and the CEO, which led to changing priorities. The focus when I joined the company was on growth and scaling the operation. When I left, the Transformation Office was disbanded and most of their work was undone.

    Pros

Strong engineering company, get thing delivered.

    Cons

BAD leadership, weak sales and marketing. Loss the momentum of innovation which used to have. Agree with the former comments, no cultural diversity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

JNPR being very few network company for people to counter CSCO's bullyism. Sad to see how screwing they have been in past years. Check up with your neighbor, Yahoo's, see how to rejuvenate the company.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Juniper has a very collaborative culture - people try to work with each other and be supportive. I've never heard a heated argument like were common at other companies. The new corporate headquarters are beautiful and has increased morale considerably.

    Cons

Much liked CEO is leaving - replacement unknown. Lots of org changes recently and many people leaving. Many managers are weak however a few top exec promotions have been good so jury still out at VP levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a great CEO hire who won't change the culture too much.
