I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

- great technology, nice campus - some of the best industry products in routing&switching - pay may be between 5-10% to similar positions in other networking companies (Benefits not so great) - you will work with some of the smartest people in the industry - in some positions Juniper will allow to be a remote worker and work from home, traveling when needed - if you like technical work, get a position on a Business Unit, if you like playing politics, get a job in management but don't get a job as Resident Engineer, Sales or Professional services

Cons

- if you are an individual contributor working on a technical area, you are basically a contractor with 0 job security - you have no PTO at Juniper, you ask for time off and is up to your manager if he/she want to give it to you and how much time - career development plan for technical positions is a joke, you have none - total lack of direction for the future of the company - some of the most incompetent management on the industry holds VP and director level positions - total focus on cutting costs (massive lay offs, salary freeze/minimum increases, travel and training restrictions, etc...) - too much politics and double talk in upper management - anything besides routing, switching and few security products is a disaster

Advice to Management

- have a clear business plan and direction for the future besides cutting costs and laying off employees - if you want to move Juniper beyond selling boxes, you have to make a better plan and get the sales team aligned with it - if you want to build solutions, invest in something beyond layer 2-3 - make some sense on what companies and products you buy and how to integrate their products on their portfolio - making a lot of effort in bringing top performers and brilliant minds to let them go a few months later shows total lack of planning, waste of money and treating employees worse than contractors - if you are serious about cutting costs (IOP), how can you justify giving an extra half a million cash bonus to some executives (on top of all the millions they already make in stocks and salary) last year?

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Was a good company, headed into disaster with a junior CEO an incorrect strategy

    Cons

Bad upper management, paranoid local management

    Advice to Management

Quit, you are highly inexperienced and don't have a clue how to manage or make the right decisions on how to run a company. Juniper will fail based on your strategy.
