Pros

The number one reason to work here is the people -- the percentage of brilliant and talented people that are actually fun to work with is the highest of any start up most of us have worked at before. And this is true not only for the geeks in engineering, but at every level and department. The second reason is the opportunity for company growth -- its exciting to work for a small company that's making money -- and the career growth that comes along with constant changes. opportunities.

Cons

There have been some bumps over the last year as management has had to adjust to being a bigger company, improve communication and transparency and the CEO needs to adjust to trusting his management team rather than trying to call all the shots.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Articulate vision and plan better to the whole company. Then give the employees more freedom so they can execute based on the vision and plan without looking over their shoulder every 5 minutes.

    Pros

JustAnswer has a terrific business model. It provides answers from professionals to a lot of people who otherwise would not be able to afford it, or would not have the time or means to get it. Plus, the experts on the site are making a good income from answering questions, and some of them even make a living doing it. As a company, JustAnswer has a lot of terrific employees who are smart, helpful, and work hard to make the site great. And as an employee, you are given a lot of autonomy to do your job in the way that you choose, so long as it is completed.

    Cons

As some of the reviewers have already posted on here, JustAnswer has a tendency to try to go too fast for its own good, which ironically slows it down in the long run. This can have an impact throughout the company, by demoralizing employees who are frustrated that the site and processes around it are not as good as they could be. However, the business model is so strong, and there are so many smart people working hard to make the company great, that despite the problems it creates for itself, it continually makes progress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to slow down and put in the time to get the details right. Be willing to spend more money to improve the architecture, and to take the time to build a solid codebase that will keep us from having problems down the line. When things go wrong, after fixing them, take the time to understand how they could be prevented in the future. Also, spend more time training new employees. Lastly, allow people to work from home more often.
