Pros

JustAnswer has a terrific business model. It provides answers from professionals to a lot of people who otherwise would not be able to afford it, or would not have the time or means to get it. Plus, the experts on the site are making a good income from answering questions, and some of them even make a living doing it. As a company, JustAnswer has a lot of terrific employees who are smart, helpful, and work hard to make the site great. And as an employee, you are given a lot of autonomy to do your job in the way that you choose, so long as it is completed.

Cons

As some of the reviewers have already posted on here, JustAnswer has a tendency to try to go too fast for its own good, which ironically slows it down in the long run. This can have an impact throughout the company, by demoralizing employees who are frustrated that the site and processes around it are not as good as they could be. However, the business model is so strong, and there are so many smart people working hard to make the company great, that despite the problems it creates for itself, it continually makes progress.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to slow down and put in the time to get the details right. Be willing to spend more money to improve the architecture, and to take the time to build a solid codebase that will keep us from having problems down the line. When things go wrong, after fixing them, take the time to understand how they could be prevented in the future. Also, spend more time training new employees. Lastly, allow people to work from home more often.

    Pros

The company provided 2-day a week Free Lunch, lunch and learn sessions on a variety of topics, and fun company outtings. The people that keep things running day to day are also stellar.

    Cons

Management is very disconnected from the day to day process. A lot of time and money is spent on recruiting, very little is invested in growing current employees. Despite the lunch and learns, many of the new tools / ideas thrown around are rarely implemented. If they are eventually implemented, it's almost always done wrong.

The company focuses on speed, to the detriment of everything else. Ironically, this makes the whole business / technology process way slower in the end.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop Micromanaging. Allow motivated employees with ideas to try them out.

    Pros

Making a difference in the world
Growing fast (means lots of opportunities)
Great people (Very smart and down to earth)
People really care about doing a great job
    Presidio location/Beautiful office

    Cons

The pace is pretty fast, so it's not for everyone.
They have really high standards, so it's hard to get a job there.
If you aren't smart enough, you probably won't last there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate the vision more. You get constant stories from customers about how you saved someone's life and that kind of thing. Share that with people more. And, talk about how the work they're doing is going to contribute to more of that.
