Current Employee - Site Director for Learning Center in Phoenix, AZ

I have been working at K12 full-time (more than an year)

Pros

I am a Site Director and have been here a year. They will create a new position if you convince them that it is worth while. If you have a positive attitude about k12, they will love you and listen to you.

Cons

They are working on this by asking employees, but perhaps a bit more training with the tech stuff would be in order.

I have been working at K12 full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great product
    Flexible work environment
Lots of talented people (unfortunately, not in leadership)

    Cons

Lack or qualified people in director level+ positions
    Understaffed
    Low salaries
Too many decisions have to be run by upper management, so hard for company to change.
    Poor career development
Such poor leadership, that employees worry about how long K12 can be truly successful, even with a great product

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees advice to change. Pay employees at market value and continue to provide salary increases that are competitive, Offer career advancement opportunities and force formal reviews. Don't promise a "bonus", they are underwhelming and too much hype for what is provided, leaving disgruntled employees. Don't let the fear of firing people, get in the way of creating a great company.

I have been working at K12 full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

A new CIO was brought in and is doing a very good job of bringing the infrastructure up-to-date. Availablity and customer satisfaction are rising. New innovate systems and changes are being made to keep applications and services at the forefront. Enterprise Business and Technology Services (EBTS) management putting forth a strong effort to provide a good work/life balance.

    Cons

There are a lot of new processes and changes being implemented so there is some flux. Things are still growing and I believe that things are only going to get better. I did not leave due to dissatisfaction, but was offered a great opportunity close to where I live.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep communicating with employees through all-hands. Focus on the positive and help them understand the roadmap.
