I have been working at K12 full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Product Development has an amazing group dynamic that keeps employees enthusiastic and happy to work. People believe they are building the best online curriculum. The greatest pro has to be the supervisors. The Vice Presidentsin Product Development and dedicated, experienced professionals who care about their employees. It is a good feeling to know you are seen as a person and not a number or statistic.

Cons

Pet projects of the CEO are given too many resources that could be used to build better products designed to incrase student learning and test scores. CHoices are being made to lobby instead of doing things right. The priorities might need to shift a little.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Executive Vice Presidents need to listen to the employees and show value to everyone, not just a few pets. MBA's are not educational experts, so have MBA's make the educational decisions is a ticking time bomb. When an employee shows enthusiam and iniative that will help the company, at least acknowledge it in an email.
