Pros

Excellent opportunity to work with a variety of companies from the inside, see their cultures, and how they operate. Good chance to build your skills in a couple of disciplines, which you can carry elsewhere if you choose to do so.

Cons

Can be long hours at time, especially near deadlines. Stress can be high, depending upon the style and experience of the person leading your team. The client may also pressure you, but that is because they expect good value for their investment.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training was very important, as was mentoring, Having someone you trust to go in order to ask the questions you might not want to ask your manager is very valuable.

    Pros

Exposure to many companies and industries
    Excellent training opportunities
    Networking with colleagues and clients
Various projects provide an opportunity to find your strengths

Having KPMG on the resume opens a lot of doors

    Cons

    Long hours
    Several projects were understaffed

There is a lot of travel which can be a desired attribute until it wears on you.

While having KPMG on the resume opens doors, coming from Advisory/Consulting, it is sometimes hard to explain or relate that experience in accounting interviews. Hiring managers typically come from Audit and they expect audit experience. Make sure that you are exposed to external audit engagements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for signs that travel is wearing on good staff/managers.

    Pros

Vacation days are nice. There are a lot of company parties and happy hours. Everyone is miserable so you are not alone

    Cons

you are shipped around the tri-state area to fill HR gaps. Don't be surprised if you are given a ridiculosu amount of work to do your first day and told to look at last years workapapers to figure it out. They send you on week long trainings - where they have you share a room with a stranger.
