Current Employee - Manager in Bristol, England (UK)

I have been working at KPMG US full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great exposure to senior people, learning opportunities and breadth of experience.
Opportunities to work overseas and within different areas of the firm.

    Cons

Long hours can mean sacrifices within personal life.
    Overly bureaucratic processes (e.g. SAP).
Sporadic recruitment can mean that we are under-resourced despite ongoing growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in growth to a greater extent - being too slow in previous months meant that we're getting to breaking point now from a staffing perspective, with a knock-on impact on morale and staff retention.
Make bonuses more, not less, department-specific - some teams simply work longer hours and generate more income for the firm and this should be reflected in their reward.

I worked at KPMG US full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

KPMG is a well organised firm, with one of the best talents of the country. Good paymaster.

    Cons

Culture is very team specific.Certain sections will provide good opportunity to grow and overseas exposure, while others may restrict your growth, due to lack of vision and direction
Sometimes irrational hiring may hamper your growth prospects

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Phase out the low revenue generating team. Keep a tab on irrational hiring, particularly at manager level. Not all the managers are capable for appraising the juniors, which is very unfortunate.
