Current Employee - Director in Montvale, NJ
Current Employee - Director in Montvale, NJ

I have been working at KPMG US full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Opportunity, benefits, flexibility, genuinely good people and a generally supportive work environment -- they are really trying to move ahead of the competition and doing a lot of around high performance, employer of choice, to get there -- it is a supportive culture

Cons

A great deal of shifting around in the international space, doesn't really affect the US firm but if you're working in any capacity that touches on global you will be driven crazy by changes in direction, constant addition of responsibility with no commensure increase in compensation, constant need for consensus in decision making slows us down and makes it very difficult to make progress -- worklife balance? what's that?

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either decide to be a federation of independent member firms and forget trying to have a global organization OR create a real global organization with decisionmaking capabilities

  1. Work hard, play hard

    Pros

Truly global, the company works hard to get their people international experience. I had new hire training in Europe which was a nice surprise

    Cons

Like any other big 4, they work you like dogs and the idea of work life balance is a joke depending on who you work with

  2. Audit Intern and Audit Associate 2012-2013

I worked at KPMG US full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, competitive salary and superb experience to have on your resume. They really care about their employees and depending on your situation can be very flexible.

    Cons

Depends on the role. For example there is a lot of overnight travel for auditors and engagement teams are constantly changing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to put associates on clients as close as possible to their residence and manage talent in a way to reduce travel requirements because it burns out the workforce and is really expensive for the clients.
