Pros

Other admins support each other.

Cons

No training. No room to grow. They don't want you to be anything other than an Admin. Lateral moves only. Admin managers send conflicting information constantly.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Admin managers should support the admins. Stop supporting hierarchy.

    Pros

Large network of resources, excellent training (both technical and soft-skills), brand recognition within the industry, and opportunities for travel are all available at KPMG.

    Cons

Same issues here as there are at many firms: extreme favoritism when it comes to raises, promotions, and recognition, issues with work-life balance, difficulty balancing views of management and staff when it comes to feedback. KPMG seems to be the most reactionary of the Big 4 when it comes to issues, changes in corporate culture, and technology, and that makes it very frustrating to envision staying here more than three to four years. Turf wars, in addition, are to be expected but I would expect senior management to understand the impact and take steps to reign the counterproductive pieces of those games in, but they don't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that your best and brightest aren't always the ones who kiss your ass. Also understand that your best and brightest, and even your middle performers, are very, very smart and see a lot more than you realize, and we can and do change our career direction (i.e. away from staying with KPMG) based on your decisions.

    Pros

    Great Vacation
Ability to interact with high level executives
    Strict hiearchy and constant growth
Varied work and a lot of change

    Cons

really long hours, no work life balance, cog in the machine.
low respect from senior management and very little transparency
low pay comparably to other CPA's

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The 401K was the last item you should have cut. Extremely important to AGI. Need better top down communication and transparancy.
