I have been working at KPMG US

Pros

Flexibility in time and location for doing work, Not a face-time place, Client and engagement diversity keeps it from being monotonous

Cons

This is not a 40 hour a week and totaly disconnect when you are at home company. They treat you like a professional but with that comes the expectation of acting like one and putting clients needs ahead of you own at times.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more recognition of individual effort. Raises and bonuses are tightly banded so the difference between a "star" and average is currently minimal.

    Pros

Good vacation when you can take it
Good company to work for, depending on the department

    Cons

Highly political environment where who you know is more important than what you know or how you get it done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just talk of work/life balance, enforce it.

I have been working at KPMG US

    Pros

    Great on a resume
    Constant learning
    Great benefits
    Five weeks of paid vacation
Pretty flexible when it comes to taking vacation during the off season

    Cons

    Busy season is terrible
Touted work life balance is nearly non-existent
Management only cares about the bottom line, everyone else is basically a cog

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward or incentivize the staff a little more. Busy season is rough on everyone and people should be rewarded during this time. Make performance reviews more accessible and less formal.
