Pros

Kaiser is very well-positioned in their space, and has an excellent reputation in the industry. Folks are generally pretty nice, and management does a fairly good job of allowing employees to balance work and life.

Cons

The management team, while loaded with several top notch individuals, also has some dead wood that needs to be cleaned out. One could infer that the company does not want to rock the boat, and that the board is clearly okay with that strategy.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Carefully evaluate the people that are at a mid-level manager position and above, as there are some clear opportunities to upgrade talent without taking on any undue risk.

Decades behind in operations. If you make over 100k, expect to work 60-80 hrs per week.

I worked at Kaiser Aluminum full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent, until you divide your salary by your hours. 100k/70hrs per week figuring working 50 weeks a year= $28.57 per hour

    Cons

Most high level executives are nearing retirement. It costs lots of $$ to update systems. Updating software etc. = less $ for executive bonus'

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire enough employees to do the work. Stop hiring bullies and paying them hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to bully everyone below them into working ridiculous hours to meet their demands. Ever wonder why people keep leaving? What goes around, comes around. -Greed-
