I have been working at Kaiser Permanente full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Fair pay and work hours for each function, and the chance to apply your trade (if you are in the medical field).

Cons

Not much room for growth. And the bureaucracy is very frustrating at times (nothing changes quickly).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within, and work to better align incentives with patient service.

I have been working at Kaiser Permanente as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Work from home optional for my role. Schedule is somewhat flexible

    Cons

Hard to get anything done with constant phone conferences. The flexible schedule goes out the window when meetings dictate your schedule.

I have been working at Kaiser Permanente full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits package is good. The health care delivery system is connectional. Computers and technology helps w/ the communication process in patient care.

    Cons

Front line staff would "thrive" in an environment where supervisors would be less autocratic and top down in their management style. Rather than create job scenarios fueled by policies and procedures that over extend staff and refuse to compensate them for overtime, the motto of "do more w/ less" and "squeeze as much blood out of a turnip" as you can seems to be the ethos e.g. in the home health departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support your front line staff and listen, listen and listen to them! Dictating and mandating that staff take on herculean tasks and not compensate them for their extra time is heartless and unfair.
