Kaplan Employee Review

Current Employee – been working at Kaplan part-time for more than 3 years

Pros – --Beautiful, clean, well-lit office that is easy to get to via public transportation
--Friendly people. People you don't even work with smile at you as they pass you by in the hall
--Cafeteria inside of the office with a variety of food that is relatively cheaper than the food sold outside of the office.
--Diversity in staff in race, gender, sexual orientation.
--Great scholarship and volunteer initiatives
--Excellent team environment for full-time workers
--Flexible schedule for part-time workers

Cons – --Low pay
--No room for advancement.
--Lack of adequate communication between management and employees.
--Lack of diversity in management
--An unwillingness to try new educational methods and technologies.
--More profit-driven and less focused on creating genuine relationships with customers
--Much of the staff works remotely, so a sense of genuine community in the company is lost.

Advice to Senior Management – Be open to suggestions from employees and be open to trying new methods of doing things. Create an office where the staff, particularly the part-time staff and those who work remotely, feel more like real employees and not just visitors. Pay part-time workers a better salary so that there is less turnover.
