It's not about the Student, it's about the Numbers

I have been working at Kaplan University

    Pros

There is the opportunity to make upwards of 6 figures. However of the 1500-2000 admissions advisors there are less than 10 in the company. Benefits from day 1 and the opportunity to take apart of the Gift of Knowledge which is free education after 30 days. This includes the Masters program if you have a bachelors already.

    Cons

It's a numbers game. Pressure tactics to enroll students. Encouraged to come in on your day off if you are behind in your numbers otherwise your job will be on the line. Micro managed on every thing you do. Strict adherence to breaks and given lunch times. Favoritism in promotions and no clear path on how to move up. If you boss likes you than you are given a shot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acknowledge that sometimes the best potential managers are not necessarily the best producers and vice versa the best poducers some times make the worst managers. Be fair and if hold up your promises to you staff that have managed to stay around longer than a few months.
