Former Employee - Admissions Counselor
Former Employee - Admissions Counselor

I worked at Keiser University full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Better than not having a job

Cons

No room for advancement, no time off for at least your first year, benefits are VERY expensive, high turnover rate in admissions department, it's a sales job (they call their quota by a different name, but you are expected to enroll a certain number of students each month), 6 days work week is the norm. Admissions counselors expected to be sales people as well as manage all paperwork for each of their students -- as well as issues with financial aid, bursars office, etc. Burnout rate is high.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

KU became a non profit school almost 2 years ago, so stop running it like a for profit school. Higher ups are disconnected from many of students' needs and concerns and have said that tuition hasn't been major concern or issue and shouldn't be now. Hire education professionals to fill key positions instead of business people.....there are major differences between how they will run the campus.

I have been working at Keiser University full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It would appear on initial inspection that there is a friendly atmosphere on the campus...but....

    Cons

The campus is plauged by poor management, but it appears that management is hamstrung by the main office in Ft. Lauderdale which does not allow much autonomy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

TO FT. LAUDERDALE - Listen to employees and effect changes when possible or there will continue to be a revolving door of faculty, staff and students
