Current Employee - Sales Analyst Intern in Rogers, AR

I have been working at Kellogg Company part-time for more than a year

Pros

Stable Industry, accessible to anyone interested. Lots of good brands insure that Kellogg will be around for a long time, no matter what the economy does.

Cons

Extremely sales oriented (to the detriment of the other business functions), little employee development or career development. Corporate strategy not communicated to lower level employees. Communication in general is not very good across business functions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop letting Wall Street investors dictate your performance metrics. Hold your field network accountable. Develop your all your employees, not just the select few who are on the fast track to management.

Current Employee - Supply Chain Quality in Battle Creek, MI

I have been working at Kellogg Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The company pays very very well and has great benefits. A lot of very talented people. Although most of the business is domestic, it is working on becoming an international company and there is opportunity to interact with different cultures.

    Cons

There's some thing about Kellogg's that seems to stifle creativity. Much of what is done is done in a committee format and there's not much here to make your own mark, especially in corporate Kellogg. There is also a glass ceiling between the senior managers position and a directors position. Kellogg seems to prefer to bring people from the outside for these slots. There are lots of opportunities to make lateral moves into different functions, but very difficult to move up. Kellogg also loves to use flowery phrases and ambiguous sentences.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide clear avenues for advancement. Keep things simple, say what you mean without resorting to ambiguous catch phrases. Learn to fully utilize the talent you have in Battle Creek.

Former Employee - Student Intern  in  Memphis, TN
Former Employee - Student Intern in Memphis, TN

I worked at Kellogg Company as an intern for more than 3 years

    Pros

As a student employee, the starting pay per hour is nice. The factory is also open 24/7 so they work around your school schedule if you live locally.

    Cons

The plant is very hot, very dusty, requires physical labor, and the hours are inconsistent. If you work here as a student try, to get scheduled in the Packing dept. Students get no benefits and are very expendable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managment is pretty much a joke.

    No opinion of CEO
