Current Employee - Part Time Merchandiser in Columbia, MO

I have been working at Kellogg Company part-time (more than an year)

Pros

Versatile schedule (although not much notice given)
Relatively better pay
No mandatory 9-hour shifts
Meet new people
Great college job
Unsupervised most of the time (avoid the over your shoulder feeling)

Cons

Part-time employees get very little benefits (no mileage, no health, dental, life etc.)
Sometimes hounded for taking too long (even if you are just being thorough)
Very few employees (I am unable to call in sick with a clear conscience)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care more for your employees or you will scare away dedication and talent.

Leadership, especially in Employee Relations, Safety, and Directorships Just Don't Care. It's about numbers and bonuses

I have been working at Kellogg Company full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, people, and products. Time off and work flexibility is only a bonus IF you work in Battle Creek, MI

    Cons

Changes are constant and often negative. HR is highly intimidated by unsubstantiated discrimination threats. They will take the word of a poor performing employee with a personnel file that is two inches thick over a 20 year manager with favorable evaluations and NO disciplinary actions. Their incident investigations are a BIG JOKE. Safety has a lack luster concern for employees testing positive for "illegal" drugs, even when they operate power equipment. Those employees are given a final warning and go back to work on your highways. If you are the victim of a workplace violence incident, no matter how threatened you feel...DON'T raise your voice!!! AND DO call the police, even if you feel too threatened to grab and look at your phone during the altercation! If you happen to know that the person who is attacking you was arrested and jailed for domestic violence - It is IRRELEVANT in an incident like this. Don't worry, nobody at Kellogg cares. It's WRONG to tell people even though it was posted in newspapers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle Management gets no respect from Region and Corporate Directors. Salaried employees must work 60 hours a week across the nation. When this comes up, the entire group is told to delegate work and manage their time better??? No compassion, no concern, and definitely no respect for this level employee. They get rid of them if the word stress is mentioned. My advice is look at your labor practices and listen to your employees with TRUE concern. Yes, we are all replaceable but that should NOT be your motto.
