I worked at Kellwood full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice coworkers; free clothes/ free samples; good business; growing (although no promotions). There was opportunity at the time. Some talented people at the lower and mid levels. Summer Fridays.

    Cons

No salary increases in years! Inconsiderate and unappreciative management; threw away the hard work of many people with constant layoffs. Always people laid off. Last minute changes everyday, causing confusion and the constant fixing of already done work; productivity has plummeted with the continuous corrections that have to be made by the whims of one; hard to concentrate on business when you are going back in time to repeat what you have done already to different people. Crazy work environment. management slow to respond to industry changes, HR and IT are now small, 401k match was *zero*, only 2 weeks vacation, promotions are based on likeability rather than merit and ability. Poor management. High turnover with junior to mid-senior level employees. Horrible HR. No challenging goals. Small brand budgets. Long hours Dirty offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micromanaging - more work will get done that way. Stop promoting only people you "like" vs. good, smart, hardworkers. Stop laying people off for no reason, with no warning.
Take a long hard look at what the experienced worker bees are expected to do every day. Some of their tasks could be taken on by entry level employees, freeing up their time for the more important advanced roles that you are paying them for.

I worked at Kellwood full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The hours were fine at this company.

    Cons

Senior management has turned over within the last 2 years and currently they just don't have a clue about the business they are in so they can't manage it well.
