It's a terrible job

I have been working at Kemah Boardwalk

Pros

Easy to move up in the company, you meet great people.

Cons

You get paid minimum wage, you rarely get breaks, the managers don't care about anyone. Kemah is all about the money. Your always gonna get scheduled a double because they're short staffed.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe if you treated your employees better you wouldn't have to worry about being short staffed.

I have been working at Kemah Boardwalk part-time

    Pros

Absolutely nothing. Training is mediocre, the hours were crap (working 35+ hours per week at 16 years old), and no recognition for what you do right.

    Cons

Micromanagement is out of control, you get very minimal training, sometimes it seemed like you were set up to fail. Too many hours, employees are not respected at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Do better.

Good first job, but not a great one to stay at.

I worked at Kemah Boardwalk part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people you work with are most likely the people you will end up being very close friends with and everybody is very friendly and helpful to one another.

    Cons

Too much work for little pay. I feel bad for parking attendants in the summer. Kemah gets short-staffed easily because they hire a bunch of teenagers who are not capable of having the responsibility to show up to work. Therefore everybody who DOES show up, suffers the consequence of angry, sweaty customers who wait in line too long and not very understanding managers who demands more sales from workers who can barely get their breaks in on time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say to hire better employees and also put managers and supervisors through a leadership training so that they know that harsh words are not the only way to get employees to do a better job and to also listen to their employees and their suggestions and opinions.
