Pros

Great stepping stone to gain experience to take elsewhere, especially at the lower levels. The company has had a good reputation in the field, but it is somewhat undeserved based on recent performance. Benefits were decent. You are not micromanaged, but lack of leadership allows this to radically affect overall company efficacy at all levels.

Cons

Very inconsistent performance review process. Often completely influenced by your manager's personal opinion of you rather than on the quality of the work performed. Little justification for ranking, very little opportunity to take issues up-line and receive any resolution. HR ineffective in dealing with problem employees and relationships. A much higher silo mentality than would be expected from such a small organization, preventing true collaboration among departments. The salary structure is completely inconsistent.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward employees for the quality of work performed. Set performance standards uniformly. Set salary levels consistently - a great deal of resentment exists because many salaries are known. Most people are in retrench mode and constantly on the lookout to be stabbed in the back or have their ideas stolen.

I worked at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation - West Orange full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Part of a larger team. You get to learn a lot of skills. Great to put on your resume.

    Cons

They give you time off, but it is very difficult to get the days off you want. The usual is to have a 2 patient to 1 therapist ratio (unless doing brain injury) and this includes stroke patients, and sometimes it is difficult to jump back and forth between patients. Also, you can't get money towards continuing education until you have worked for at least a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more per diem and/or part time employees so that full time employees can take time off and spend holidays with their loved ones.

I have been working at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation - West Orange full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good coworkers and patients. Pay decent considering you don't need prior experience. Hours you want including overtime allowed. Full time allows for pto/sick days.

    Cons

Health insurance could be better for working in the healthcare field. Raises are only 2% max yearly. No bonuses. Can't move up unless you get a degree in something specific.
