Just as bad as USIS, maybe even worse.

I worked at KeyPoint Government Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pay is not bad, if you don't consider the fact that you had to sell your freedom to earn it.

Compared to USIS review is better. You don't get reopened for trivial things. Keypoint review focuses on what OPM will be looking for in a report rather than trying to meet a quota of reopens.

    Cons

No job security. Field managers are just as rude, impatient, and demanding as USIS. Someday people will realize how much time and stress is wasted on micro managing. The case load is a little lighter at keypoint but it doesn't matter if they give you 5 more cases (keypoint) than you can complete on time, or 30 more cases (USIS) than you can complete on time, you will still get backed up and harrassed by your supervisor daily. Keypoint makes you front the money for all of your supplies including printing cartridges. On a DAILY basis you can't get connected to the PIPS VPN and when you call to get it fixed, they just tell you everyone is having the same issue. They don't seem to care that connecting to PIPS is essential to getting your job done. Management in Loveland is completely disorganized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None because the whole system is a mess and you won't listen anyways.

I have been working at KeyPoint Government Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work from home and make your own schedule
Company will pay for clearance if you dont have one
Don't have to report to a supervisor daily
    Paid time off, Benefits

    Cons

First and foremost, if you think your going to become an OPM Contract Investigator, with Keypoint or any other contractor to ensure National Security or do real investigatons, your should know OPM investigatons are not that at all. As an investigator your going to run around trying to meet deadlines and check off boxes so the company gets paid. You'll be a glorified paperwork pusher / report writer that carries some creds, which nobody cares about and law enforcement think are a joke.

Second, the company will promise you promotions and production bonuses, yet they are so ambiguous, not even management can tell you how the raises and bonuses are given. It is all production run, not based on quality investigations. Keypoint is a business, and they will be the fist to tell you that they're only here to make money.

Lasty, if your already a contractor looking to switch over, all companies are the same. Keypoint management is all former management from the other contractors. They promise its different, but face it they're all the same. I've heard of others being lured in by promise of huge pay increases, but after several months, the investigators were demoted after they could not maintain the unrealistic production requirements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit telling employees that this is a business and your here to make money, because the people at the bottom who are doing all the work aren't making any money; to include the FM's, WM's, help desk staff, and investigators. People want to know they're work is valued and important, not that they're paying for some Exec's new car or a corporate party that is going on in Loveland.

Have management visit travel around and visit the various areas in the field. Most FM's in Loveland have never visited the area they supervisor. Each area it completely different with its own issues and difficulties, yet Loveland treats the entire U.S as the same area with the same pay scale.

Stand up to OPM, although they are the customer and you are providing a service, there is a contract and your should stand up for things that fall within that contract.

Give employees a reason to stay with the company, I would guess 75% of your employees right now are searching for other jobs. Developed a job quality survey for employees in the field as well as in Loveland, you may just learn something.......
