I worked at Keynote Systems full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

work life balance at only 60 work hours a week

Cons

no life due to 60 work hours a week
salary cuts
no raises
sup-par salaries compared to industry standards (HR should do more to research this but they are filing their nails)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cultures and Values: Live what you speak, you listen to customers needs but not ours. You talk a good game but don't follow through with employees. VPs should take a good look at their departments and just for a moment get their head out of cloud or..... wherever it is. Open you eyes and see where the problems are:
Great Departments:
-Product Managment
-Engineering
-Operations
-Finance
Needs Improvement:
-Marketing
-Sales & Support
-Human Resources

    Pros

Not too big, not too small
The domain is very exciting. SaaS, Intetnet company which sounds very good and exciting

    Cons

Departments are so disconnected from each other, it's like you work for totally different companies. Some managers who are there since last ten yrs or so (very few are left) think that they own the company and are trying to run their individual departments in a complete eccentric ways. There's no communication whatsoever with upper management. They seem too complacent with whatever success they got. Depends on which department you join, you could get a completely different view and experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back the zeal, passion, Get some excitement for everyone!! Make an effort to reach out to your employees beyond some freaks who think they can control everyone below the way they want

I worked at Keynote Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Work/Life balance is good.
People are friendly and want to be helpful.
    Relatively flat organization.
    Management is accessible.
Has a big company feel as they are a public company.

    Cons

Pace is slow for a tech company.
Retention appears to be good, but seems that turnover is higher for such a small company.
For what the company does as a business, it doesn't appear to be innovative.
Not a place to be there long term if you like to be challenged or admired as a "Company to Work for"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to find ways to spur innovation and more aggressive towards growth. Lots of people who are there too long seem to not be challenged, but comfortable in their job.
