    Pros

Good place to "cut your teeth" in the sales industry. I learned a lot about how to track prospects in the sales process and uncover new opportunities. It's nice because copier sales always looks great on a resume because other sales companies respect the amount of work and competition you will face in this industry.

    Cons

The pay is not good. The car package doesn't cover anywhere near the monthly expenses necessary to maintain the activity.

    Advice to Management

Allow reps to see a list of all the current customers in the area so they may introduce themselves and open the door to future sales opportunities.

    Pros

Tier one office equipment with Canon. They have an above average BDC which if deployed properly could be an even more effective tool for them. I had a decent manager who was knowledgeable and probably should be running the company. The owners are decent people and are entrepreneurial by nature. An average place to work. Good working environment in terms of offices. Can be a good place to learn the sales business if you're motivated, pay attention, have the right attitude and enjoy selling and selling office technology.

    Cons

The people above branch sales directors in senior management VP positions are an unnecessary layer of expense. Most of them are recycled managers from other dealers. This company could eliminate most of them and their expensive and leased top of the line Mercedes and perquisites and invest the money in company growth, training and sales technology. This would also eliminate a layer of people who know how to lose deals. They've lost a number of good producers for this reason simply because they're not good leaders.

    Advice to Management

I shared that in my above comments generally but the compensation plan, especially expenses needs reconsideration as it doesn't take into account all of the expenses required to run a sales territory.
